Reader: Ace Mohr is redeemable; Turner is a sad, haunted, negative human being

One week ago, the Turner Report featured a post noting that Ace Mohr, 24, Carthage, facing multiple felony charges and having recently had his bond revoked, had been released on his own recognizance on the condition that he enroll in a drug rehabilitation program at "The Road."

In a comment to that post received a few moments ago, a person claiming to be the founder and director of The Road took issue with the earlier post.

In addition to printing his comments on that blog post, they are also printed below:

As the Founder and Director of The Road I have seen many men change that were deemed unchangeable. Maybe Ace is one of them and maybe he's not, but what I believe is that every human being is valuable and capable of redemption.

Ace has broken laws, burned bridges, and been locked up many times. All of the negative things he has done was under the influence.

If we can support this young man and help him find sobriety and purpose then he will be a success. If we lock him up (and maybe he deserves to be locked up) then the odds are that he will reoffend and not get proper recovery. We are and have been one of the most successful recovery programs in the state (rated by the DMH - MRSS) for several years.

If he can't succeed here then he will probably not succeed anywhere. How about send a prayer for this dude that begins his new journey today.

And as for Mr. Turner, it seems that your life is built on pessimistic criticism. Must be a sad and haunting existence to be such a negative human being. Many, if not the majority, of your articles are based on how "bad" people are.

Why don't you look for the good?

An example would be Judge Mouton. Judge Mouton is one of the fairest, nicest, smartest, gentlest, souls I have ever met. It's not just because his wife was my kindergarten teacher that I say such a thing, but because he and his wife try to inspire and draw out the best in children and "misfits" believing in second, third, and even tenth chances in order to try to redeem the "small" people in this world.

They do more for our community in one calendar year than you have done in your whole life. Take notes and emulate people such as them, for you come across as a judgmental, doomsday, hater. Find some humanity, find some grace, and find some love.

Your reporting on the negative constantly isn't a redeeming quality. I'm happy to see someone stand up to you with no sympathy given in your defense.

Not sure I agree about Mohr but the reader is SPOT ON regarding Turner. The amount of negative articles produced on this blog are staggering. But the again, hey whatever draws readers right Turner? Same as the mainstream press he so despises because they are "legitimate news".

I believe in second, third and tenth chances and that there should be grace. If not, how could any of us make it in this world? I also know that there are consequences for your actions and if you hurt someone then there should be severe consequences.

I do hope that this young man cleans up and changes his ways. Whether under the influence or not, the consequences should still be there.

Mr. Turner may seem negative but he's not. Unfortunately, he is frequently the only one to investigate and tell us about those negative things that have happened. Someone has to be sure that we know what is going on.

Let's see how Mr. Mohr does and let's keep on top of things with Mr. Turner.

Sure I hope Ace cleans up and this program is successful BUT THERE ARE MANY OTHERS IN THE SYSTEM WHO DESERVE THIS CHANCE BEFORE HIM----------what about them??? What did Ace do to get sent to the front of the line on this program???

Ok, so yes maybe many of his articles are negative, but that's what in the news. Maybe Mr Turner should do some feel good stories to even it out a bit. Maybe that would make some of the people happy. Never gonna make all the people happy all of the time. Maybe if some of the people who don't like it would send in some of the feel good stories for him to report on would help too... I think it's ironic that people are quick to be negative about complaining on negativity...

  6. This is a classic case of blame the messenger. News reporters are not to blame for negative news. Instead, blame the person who committed the offense. As a news editor, I had a retired teacher show up in the news a room one day, complaining that her former students were being written up in the newspaper for DWI and other infractions. She claimed that I have a responsibility to look out for young people. She stated that I should not report on things these young people do because it demoralized them and make them look bad to the community. There is no easy way to explain to people about how news works. Anything on the public record is free game. I refuse to change the way I reported. So Randy., Don't let these jerks get you down.

I am all about chances but calling Moten a good person is by far who that man really is. I delt with him years ago not in a criminal aspect and he was a complete and udder dick.

Lol, the counselor chides Turner instead of the offender with multiple felonious acts, and chastises his blog as "too negative" for the personal taste of the director of drug rehab program. It's not the offender's fault, it's Turner's? If you find something to be negative then don't read it and continue going back for more. If you think Ace can be rehabilitated, by all means give it your best shot. The record that Ace has that Turner has reported on, says otherwise. Continued multiple arrests show rehabilitation has been as unsuccessful as your attempt to malign an individual that is absent of the criminal history of Ace Mohr. Your nonsense which guarantees failure in you attempt at rehabilitating Ace is obvious and I hope Mouton reads your idiotic claims.

All Turner does is REPORT THE NEWS. I for one thank him for that. Ace Mohr is a repeat offender and should be in jail. Are you saying it's Turner's fault that Ace is a loser that continues to break the law? What is wrong with you? CONSEQUENCES for your own actions... Keep up the good work Turner. We appreciate you.

  10. I've known Pastor Phil for a while. Even though I was a repeat felon much like Ace, he gave me a chance. I know have 4 years clean, a supervisor at my job, and have full custody of my children. All of that wouldn't be possible without this man you are calling an idiot. When is the last time you've helped somebody to that extent? Pastor Phil has with hundreds of Men, as well as women, and children. Not only is he one of the smartest men you meet but he is one of the nicest also. You fit in good with your negative name calling buddy Mr. Turner.

Can you goofballs not read? Or are you all so emotional that you can't reason? The Director never said Ace was innocent and never blamed Ace's criminal record on Ace. In fact in parenthesis he actually agreed with Turner regarding Ace possibly deserving Jail time. What he was condemning Turner for was his demonizing the Judge who seems to be a decent person in my interaction with him. Y'all just jumbling the facts like CNN news or crooked Hillary. Asshats!

No need for a high bail for Ace, or for him to be kept locked up waiting for his trial.

His past history seems to indicate that Law Enforcement will have many many many more opportunities to arrest and charge him before his date with justice.

I wish I got as many "second chances" as this kid. He deserves serious time for his crimes. If all you do is continue slapping him on the hand and turning him loose he will continue committing crimes and hurting innocent people. How about sending him to the rehab after his time is served? Make him actually pay for his wrong doings for once. Quit giving someone chances to change when they obviously aren't wanting to change, he has proven to everyone that he cannot be trusted and is only willing to change for long enough to get eyes off of him then goes right back to selling drugs and robbing people and places at gunpoint. From the eyes of someone who use to know Ace personally I do not see him changing anytime soon. I'm happy I was able to get away from his toxic ways before he drove me down the road with him. I don't know how he keeps getting away with the serious crimes he continues to commit but I'm sure my theory is the same as many others. As for Turner reporting on it, I'm glad he does so the public can be aware of our messed up system letting a criminal like Ace get away with the same crap over and over. Maybe Turner could report something positive if Ace made a positive change... when you're a negative impact on society you usually get negative reviews.

You're a moron. In the article the director commented on, Turner had in no way maligned Judge Mouton. Point it out, if you think you can where Turner "demonized" the judge. You can't, and if the director thinks Turner somehow judged the judge, then he's an idiot too. Tell me, if the director successfully rehabilitates Ace from drugs, does that cure his propensity for armed robbery as well? GTFOH

Turner is a sanctimonious lying scumbag. I'd like to thank CJ Huff for getting rid of him.

This Ace Mohr needs to go back to school, get into teaching and turn out to be the same sort of tedious scumbag Turner is as opposed to selling drugs to people who want them.
