FBI, Newton County deputies searching pond after finding information linked to Sarah Burton's disappearance

Shannon Becker at Joplin News First is offering live coverage at 1174 Crane Drive where FBI and Newton County Sheriff's deputies are searching a pond after uncovering evidence at that address that linked it to the July 16 disappearance of Sarah Burton of Joplin.

The information about Burton, which has not been made public, was discovered during the execution of a search warrant Monday at that address.

The address, as noted in the April 3 Turner Report, has been under scrutiny by the Newton County Sheriff's Office for years and was the place where Doug Alexius, described by former Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland as a member of the Joplin Honkies gang, was captured March 1, 2016, after eluding authorities who were searching for him on a number of felony charges, including assaulting a law enforcement officer and receiving stolen property.
