Judge reduces bond for Carthage man charged with two counts of statutory sodomy

Over the objections of the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office during a hearing Monday, Jasper County Circuit Judge David Mouton reduced the bond of a Carthage man facing statutory sodomy charges.

Jerad Cyler Adams, 35, has been held in the Jasper County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond. His lawyer, said Adams was not a flight risk and would be able to gain employment if he is released, also noting that he had "multiple friends and family members in this area."

Mouton reduced the bond to $50,000 cash or surety.

Conditions of the bond are that he have no contact with the alleged victim and be placed on electronic monitoring.

Adams' trial is scheduled to begin October 22. A hearing for pre-trail motions is set for 9 a.m. July 8.
