Judge denies bond reduction for Joplin man charged with murder in connection with death in stolen tractor crash

A Lawrence County judge denied a bond reduction for a Joplin man charged with second degree murder.

Kendall Lee Crosswhite, 28, is being held without bond after the murder charge was filed in connection with a fatal accident that occurred October 22 when he or the deceased drove a stolen tractor off a bridge in the Stotts City area.

The murder charge was filed because the death allegedly occured during the commission of a felony. Crosswhite is also charged with receiving stolen property.

According to the Highway Patrol traffic report, a 2011 John Deere tractor, driver unknown, ran off the left side of the roadway and traveled off a bridge. Lawrence County Coroner Scott Lakin pronounced Justin T. Workman, 35, Joplin, dead at the scene.

Crosswhite's preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. December 9 in Lawrence County Circuit Court.
