Neosho man, out on bond on charges of arson, escape, DWI, domestic assault, charged with DWI, assaulting two law enforcement officers

Ten days after the Neosho man charged with arson, property damage and stealing in connection with the fire that nearly destroyed the Restoration Life Center Thrift Shop was released on bond, he was back in jail again charged with driving while intoxicated, assaulting two law enforcement officer and felony arrest by fleeing.

Arkansas law enforcement officials arrested Joshua Alan Love, 37, Neosho, on those charges Tuesday following a high-speed chase through numerous jurisdictions.

At the time Judge Jacob Skouby set Love's bond for the Thrift Shop arson, Love was already awaiting trial on domestic assault, property damage and felony escape charges for crimes allegedly committed March 22, felony domestic assault and resisting arrest charges following an April 20 incident and felony DWI for a 2018 arrest.

At that point, Skouby set Love's bond at $2,500.

Love's felony DWI arrest in Arkansas is at least his fourth drunk driving charge in the past three years

An examination of Love's record in recent years shows numerous encounters with the law.

December 13, 2017 and January 4, 2018- Neosho Police arrested Love on misdemeanor DWI charges both dates. He was sentenced to six months in jail, but then the sentence was suspended by Judge Gregory Stremel and he was a placed on probation. He was required to spend eight days shock time in jail.

August 8, 2018- Neosho officers once again arrested Love for DWI, this time a felony. That case has still not come to trial. A pre-trial hearing is set for August 4 before Judge Skouby. Love was freed after posting a $3,000 bond set by Judge Kevin Selby.

March 22, 2020- Love, still out on bond for the felony DWI, was charged with misdemeanor domestic assault and property damage charges, broke out of jail and was charged with felony escape.

March 24, 2020- Despite Love still being on bond for the DWI and having escaped from jail and been recaptured two days earlier, Judge Skouby released him on his own recognizance.

April 20, 2020- Love was charged with felony domestic assault and resisting arrest.

April 28, 2020- Despite Love's latest felony charges made while he was out on bond on felony escape and DWI charges, Skouby set his bond at $2,500.

June 11, 2020- Lowe, free once again on bond while awaiting trial on domestic assault, resisting arrest, escape and DWI, was charged with arson in connection with the fire at the Restoration Life Center Thrift Shop, as well as two felonies, stealing and property damage. Apparently, sensing the time was at hand to crack down on Love, Skouby set bond at $10,000 cash or surety.

June 23, 2020- Love, having posted the $10,000 bond, allegedly led Arkansas state and local police on a chase that sped through numerous jurisdictions, moving into the path of oncoming traffic at times and swerving at an officer and putting the officer's car partially in the ditch. When Love was finally stopped, authorities say he refused to get out of the vehicle and eventually assaulted two officers, cutting one to the point he needed 11 stitches.

As of this writing, Love is being held in the Benton County Jail on no bond.

(Note: This post has been edited to add the names of the judges who made the rulings in Joshua Love's earlier cases.)

Funny that Jake Skouby was the prosecutor for so long on that case and is now the judge.
That doesn't seem like a conflict at all.
I wonder how many other cases the good judge won't recuse himself from, even though he was prosecuting them for so long.
Newton County judicial system. Just wow.

Years ago I drove my car into a ditch outside town. He walked to where my car was and did some work for a farmer in exchange for him pulling my car out. He can be so amazing but it's obviously he's become very troubled. Sorry to say it but he sounds pretty far gone, judging by the timeline. I can't defend a crime spree.
