Greene County reports 11 COVID-19 deaths- 35 this week

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is saddened to announce the deaths of 11 Greene County residents from COVID-19.

Our community lost:
A man in his 60s
A woman in her 70s
A woman in her 70s
A woman in her 70s







A man in his 80s
A man in his 80s
A man in his 80s
A man in his 80s
A man in his 90s
A woman in her 90s
A woman in her 100s

The Health Department extends our condolences to everyone impacted by these losses.

Thirty-five deaths have been reported by the Health Department in the first week of October. A total of 112 Greene County residents have died from COVID-19.

“There is no escaping these daily reminders that COVID-19 is not over, that it is deadly and that we all have a part to play in preventing its spread,” stated Director of Health Clay Goddard. “As the number of deaths from this virus continues to climb, we must never lose sight of the solemn role we all play to protect each other from this deadly disease.”

Nobody is immune to COVID-19—we are all vulnerable to it, but we know some will suffer much more severe outcomes. We share a collective responsibility to fight this disease that will require patience, diligence and sacrifice.

Yesterday (Tuesday, October 6), we received 161 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Greene County. Our current total is 7,858 confirmed cases.

As of this morning, there were 142 COVID-19 positive individuals hospitalized at either CoxHealth or Mercy Hospital Springfield. 46 of those individuals are Greene County residents.
