Politico: Trump won't support Greitens; Billy Long, Schmitt fighting for Trump's affections

Ever since he started his U. S. Senate campaign, former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens has tried to link himself with former President Donald Trump, even going as far as naming Donald Trump Jr.'s girlfriend, former Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle as his national campaign chairman.

An item in today's Politico Notebook says Trump will not support Greitens and is ticked off at Guilfoyle for joining Greitens' team.

Citing aides, the item says Trump thinks Guilfoyle is trying to profit off his name.

“Trump thinks Greitens is problematic, and that Kim is annoying,” said one Trump adviser. “He said, ‘Why the f--- is she working for him?’”

Another adviser said Trump would not endorse Greitens if the primary were today, citing the scandal that forced him to resign as governor three years ago: allegations that he tied up, sexually assaulted and blackmailed a St. Louis hairdresser with whom he had an affair in 2015.

While the item does not mention representatives Vicky Hartzler and Jason Smith who are in the running for the Senate seat, it does mention two others- Attorney General Eric Schmitt who has visited Trump at Mar-a-Lago and Bedminster and Seventh District Congressman Billy Long, who also made a pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago.

Even though Greitens apparently does not have Trump's support or even Donald Trump Jr.'s according to the item, he does have the support of Trump's lawyer (in the places where he is still able to practice) Rudy Guiliani and his son Andrew.
