Judge orders Oronogo man held without bond on fentanyl trafficking charge

Following a 12-minute detention hearing this morning in U. S. District Court in Springfield, Judge David P. Rush ordered an Oronogo man held without bond while awaiting trial on a fentanyl trafficking charge.

Cody Dalton Romines, 30, was arrested after a high-speed chase on I-44 May 16, in which he first was clocked driving well over the speed limit, did not immediately stop when a Highway Patrol trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over and threw fentanyl out the window, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Romines admitted to throwing the fentanyl out the window and to distributing fentanyl in Joplin for the past several years, according to the affidavit.
