Carl Junction School District mourns loss of longtime teacher, administrator

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of a beloved teacher, school administrator, and Carl Junction Schools family member, Mr. David Haralson. 

Born on 4/13/35, he dedicated his life to education and touched the lives of countless students, leaving an indelible mark on our school community.







Mr. Haralson's journey with Carl Junction High School began in 1956 when he joined as the band director and vocal music teacher. His passion for education shone brightly as he led the Girls’ Drum and Bugle Corps, inspiring young minds to embrace the beauty of music and teamwork.

Throughout his career, Mr. Haralson taught Civics, Music Appreciation, and general music classes in Waco and Asbury schools, demonstrating his commitment to shaping well-rounded individuals. His influence extended beyond the classroom as he actively sponsored the Student Council, fostering leadership and civic engagement among the student body.

After earning his second master’s degree in School Administration, Mr. Haralson took on the role of High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Carl Junction. He dedicated his expertise and passion to the school for three decades, leaving an enduring legacy. Even in his administrative role, he remained connected with the Student Council, emphasizing the importance of student voices.

In 1986, after an illustrious career spanning 30 years with the CJ school system, Mr. Haralson retired, but his impact continued to resonate within our halls. His kindness, gentleness, and unwavering dedication to student success have left an indelible mark on the Carl Junction community.








Today, we celebrate the life of Mr. Dave Haralson, a mentor, educator, and friend. Let us honor his memory by continuing to inspire students to be their best, just as he inspired us all. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Mr. Haralson. Your legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those whose lives you touched.
