A Neosho woman is suing a Joplin couple over the death of her service dog.
According to the petition, which was filed today in Newton County Circuit Court, Abigail Maroney left the service dog, Beulah, in the home of Jordan and Hannah Dyer, for grooming March 25. The dog was left alone with their 4-year-old daughter, escaped and was run over and killed.
Maroney notes that she bought the labradoodle puppy from Montana Tumbleweed Labradoodles for $1,750 and paid $4,500 to Bark 4 Joy Dog Training to have her trained as a service dog.
Maroney, who is represented by Nethaneel Bryant Gurley of the Copeland & Brown firm of Joplin, is asking for $6,250 in damages and have attorney fees and expenses covered.
