Newton County deputy/Diamond R-4 resource officer charged with domestic assault posts bond

Newton County Sheriff's Office deputy and Diamond R-4 School District resource officer Joseph Childers, 40, posted a $3,500 bond July 30 after being held in the McDonald County Jail for three days on a domestic assault charge.

Childers allegedly beat and choked his wife July 27.

Initially, Childers was held without bond, but after he pleaded not guilty during his arraignment, Judge Joseph Skouby reduced his bond to $3,500 cash or surety. A condition of Childers' bond is that he not attempt to contact his wife unless she initiates the contact.

Childers' next hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, September 16 in Newton County Circuit Court.

Again – Listed below is another – Commentor who felt they knew this Criminal after he was Arrested – “On behalf of the Family” – and Below that is what I responded to them – “Just a Misunderstanding” – Which I called out the BS on that… So be careful who you Think You Know!

Speaking on behalf of the family. I can’t go into detail it was a misunderstanding and I have no doubt he’s gonna be released soon. Do not judge based on what you see.

7:03AM - Your comment on - "Just a Misunderstanding", is a very well used Excuse in Domestic Violence Cases.

Any type of Domestic Violence is Serious, especially for a Sheriff's Office Deputy - who should have known better and should not have put themselves in that situation. What kind of Example does this set - especially if his Charges are Dropped - Are they giving him Special Treatment for being a Newton County Sheriff's Deputy - This should not be just swept under the Rug - this is Very Serious Situation.

So - NO This is not "Just a Misunderstanding" - This is a Crime that is committed way to much - When will people learn to "Just Walk Away" - Don't Initiate, Don't Intimidate, and Don't use any type Physical or Violence against another.

    It was no misunderstanding.
Abused women have multiple resources to help them leave situations like this.
I have no sympathy for anyone, man or woman, who allows themselves to be used as a punching bag.
Get out and stop making excuses for your abuser.
    You deserve better.
    Your kids definitely do.
