Less than three weeks after filing a felony leaving the scene of a fatal crash charge against a Noel woman, the McDonald County Prosecuting Attorney's office dismissed the charge.
According to KSN, no reason was given for the dismissal of charges against Gloria Trejo, 53, but the case is still being investigated.
Trejo admitted to a Noel police officer that she was behind the wheel November 2 near the intersection of S. Kings Highway and Hall Ridge Road when she struck Michael Lynn Pruden, 59, according to the probable cause statement.
Pruden, who was a a U. S. Marines veteran who served in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
From the probable cause statement:
When speaking with Trejo on 11/19/2024 she stated that while she was driving “all of the sudden there was something in the middle of the road, so I swerved and I barely hit at first I thought it was a deer but it didn’t seem right. So I turned back to make sure and that’s when I saw it was a person. I got scared so I left.” Trejo made a written statement as to what occurred.

Maleia Cheney, Prosecuting Attorney, Prosecuting Attorney for McDonald County needs to explain why she would drop the charges on Gloria Trejo, 53. This Woman Hit and Ran over him - then just drove off - Leaving him to die.
They tracker her down - which she lied about it then finally admitted to it - and then ALL CHARGES ARE DROPPED - If I am in a fender bender and leave the scene of an accident I would be charged and prosecuted. Such white maga inspired hate for immigrants on this thread. 445, 454 evidently live in great fear of liberals and anyone of color because all they can do is cast blame while not knowing the facts. Their hate filled diatribes against liberals and immigrants is sad and pathetic.
DeleteWhat are the facts? She admitted to it and she fled... Those are the facts!
DeleteColor or race was brought in by you! No one mentioned anything about it... Except you! Judgemental much?
The facts also include that the probable cause statement states: "

Good luck finding justice in Mac County.
ReplyDeleteThere are some things we don't know about how Mr Pruden died; but possibly the prosecutors do know more about how law enforcement investigations and the court system than the commenters who are all riled up at the moment.
ReplyDeleteOne thing we apparently do know, the victim here wasn't on the sidewalk or the shoulder of the road because there aren't any.
The prosecutors may have dismissed the charge so further invesigation can be done, possibly they are waiting for test results of some sort?
It could be that at some point in the future charges may be filed again.
Yes, it is a tragedy that this man was killed. Being a veteran should have no bearing on the case. The questions to be asked are, "Why was the victim in the road and "What do the prosecutors know about the case that isn't being discussed in public." The victim may have already been dead when Ms. Trejo hit him and the evidence against her is not enough to win a conviction in court. Yes, driving away is a hit-and-run but there is a lot to the law that is not so cut and dry. Wait for the rest of the story.
DeleteThis story is sad, a Veteran Died - a Person did run over him and left the scene of the crime and then had to be tracked down - she did not turn herself in.
