Federal judge orders Carthage man held without bond on illegal reentry charge

During a detention hearing today in U. S. District Court in Springfield, a federal judge ordered Selvin Adolfo Mejia-Ramos, 32, Carthage, held without bond while awaiting trial for illegally reentering the United States.

Mejia-Ramos was put on an ICE detainer after the Carthage Police Department arrested him for a traffic violation May 17, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The affidavit says Mejia-Ramos was deported March 9, 2020 and did not have permission to re-enter the country.
