The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed a first-degree burglary charge Wednesday against a Joplin man who was involved in a standoff with police.
Jermane Latte Kelly-Waterford, 37, is being held on a $35,000 cash only bond, according to Jasper County Circuit Court records.
From the probable cause statement:
On August 13, 2025, I, Officer Moore, was dispatched to a disturbance with a weapon at 1302 E Furnace.Jermane Kelly-Waterford had been allowed to stay at the residence by his grandmother, Josephine Waterford, the previous night. He arrived at the residence around 1:30 PM on August 13, 2025, and entered the residence again, without permission of the homeowner, through a bathroom window. He then went into the bedroom of a resident of the home, Paul Lejk, and awoke him by threatening to physically assault him.
Paul observed a knife on Jermane’s waistline and was afraid, due to Jermane’s threat and demeanor, that he would use the weapon on him. Jermane then exited the home, sat the knife on the front porch and entered the home again, continuing the act erratically. Josephine and Paul both told Jermane to leave multiple times, and he would not.
When officers arrived on scene both Josephine and Paul exited the house and met officers in the front yard. Jermane stepped out on the front porch and demanded a supervisor then promptly went back inside and closed the door.
Officers used a loud hailer to attempt and speak with Jermane, who remained in the house. Commands were given for Jermane to exit the home, with the loud hailer, for more than 20 minutes and he would not exit the home.
Jasper County Circuit Court records show Judge Dean Dankelson sentenced Kelly-Waterford to seven years in prison October 16, 2022, but following the plea agreement recommendation of the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office suspended his sentence and placed him on supervised probation.
During this time on probation, Kelly-Waterford was arrested by the Joplin Police Department in 2023 for resisting arrest three times, trespassing twice, assaulting an officer and domestic assault.
On January 31, 2024, Dankelson sentenced Kelly-Waterford to four years in prison for a felony leaving the scene of an accident approving a plea agreement recommended by the Prosecuting Attorney's office that once again the sentence be suspended and Kelly-Waterford receive no prison time. Two other charges were dismissed
Dankelson put his foot down today, ordering that Kelly-Waterford be held without bond for violating probation.
Kelly-Waterford's arraignment on the burglary charge is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday at Jasper County Circuit Court in Carthage.
The case was investigated by the Joplin Police Department.

This is just another example of our failed judicial system. Since his sentencing in 2022, he has had eight infractions. If these criminals have the mentality that they are 'untouchable', then why would they stop? Jasper County must have the most incompetent Prosecuting Attorney's office I have ever seen.
In our Woke, CRT, DEI, Pronoun Shaming, Society-Several Factors occur - Do our Worthless Judges and Prosecutors feel it is Racist - to Sentence Ethnic Criminals always giving them a second, third, fourth, or a dozen or more times to commit more Crimes?
What you see in the State of Missouri - Two of the Highest Crime Cities in the Nation are St. Louis and Kansas City - Both Cities / Areas have Democratic Mayors, Both would like to push Sanctuary Cities. St. Louis and Kansas City both consistently rank among the most dangerous cities in the U.S. for violent crime and murder rates. Yet, these Democratic Mayors and Cities push their agenda never solving the problems, blaming others and never wanting to talk about the real issues - plaguing their cities - - Look at the TOP 10 - Crime-Ridden and Murder Cities in America and you will see the same exact thing - Democratic Mayors - pushing the wrong agenda and not facing the Truth and Facts of the People they are trying to serve - It is easy to Blame Others and Never Confront the Real Issues - the Family Breakdown and Lack of Fathers and Kids learning their Values from Rappers, Sports Figures, and Social Media.
High crime and murder rates in St. Louis and Kansas City are linked to underlying social and economic factors like concentrated poverty, lack of resources, high unemployment, and high rates of school dropouts - and lack of Fathers and Parents in the Home - and yet they consistently Blame Others - instead of taking a Mirror and seeing the True Reflections of what is going on.
It's ironic but this has been apparent for decades:
Some of the most clueless and unreconstructed crackers come from states that never actually seceded from the union.
10:26AM, You mean the most clueless and unreconstructed idiots come from not being educated or seeing the writing on the walls while blaming others for the Truth and Facts that have been apparent for decades? Your comment about "Crackers", clearly shows the Avoidance of the Truth and Facts - Keep blaming others while never facing the Truth about what is truly going on in those Cities. Which means that NOTHING WILL EVER GET DONE, BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS SOMEBODIES ELSES FAULT - BRO!!!
Again, why are the top highest crime and murder cities in America headed by Democrats that are afraid to admit the Truth and the Facts because it would cause an uprising in those cities to have someone stand up and ADMIT THE TRUTH - that it wasn't the Fault of Others but is a Reflection on the Populous of those Cities.
Highest Murder and Criminal Activity per 100K Population. Other cities are not lagging too far behind, even though there are signs of improvements in 2025. Let’s take a closer look. Again, Democratics want to Blame everyone and everything else - While NEVER DEALING WITH THE TRUTH and NEVER Offering ANY Ideas or Constructive Thoughts to Fix the many Problems because it would Offend their Constituents.
Region Murder Rate (per 100k)
St. Louis, MO 69.4
Baltimore, MD 51.1
New Orleans, LA 40.6
Detroit, MI 39.7
Cleveland, OH 33.7
Las Vegas, NV 31.4
Kansas City, MO 31.2
Memphis, TN 27.1
Newark, NJ 25.6
Chicago, IL 24.0
So, why did the discussion come up about democratic cities? The rest of the state of Missouri is predominantly republican. What is happening in Jasper County is happening with Republican judges. This is happening almost everywhere.
And I will say I don't affiliate with either party but do tend to lean more toward republican.
No offense, but I encourage you to ease up on your use of capitalized words in your written comments. Your writing style is confusing and it distracts from your message… it’s so dang frustrating to read your comments, I can’t even finish the first paragraph before bailing out on your message.
The reason to discuss democratic cities is to blame the other people for what's wrong here.
Nothing can ever be the fault of a 'real' republican.
As a matter of fact, that's why these people invented the phrase "Republican In Name Only" aka "RINO" so they can keep following Saint Ronnie's Eleventh Commandment.
Any sane person with a clue who looks around at SW Missouri's worst problems and thinks that they were mostly or totally caused by the "libs"... well who would think that?
Hey Russ, your 433 comments wholeheartedly describe the utter contempt and revulsion I usually feel just seeing 707,113 and the prolific amount of pontificating paragraphs using capital letters that make no sense and are an insult to anyone who can read. It appears Democrats inhabit significant space in this persons head as their obsession with them is truly pathological.
Dear PPPP, 113, 707. I really don't have to remind you that we dems truly appreciate the maniacal attention that you so willingly provide apparently every waking moment of your day to the obsession given to the Democratic party. We appreciate how thoroughly you lay out the contrasts: you being a representative, in all of your cringeworthy "opinions" and diatribes, of the maga cult, and we, the focus of your misguided and frankly, very scary worldview. Thank you for bringing that bright shiny example of what's wrong in the world. We all need to know that facts become facts only if they're believed and your "facts" are easily dispelled confirmation to those who are smart enough to not get consumed by the bright shiny object of repulsive hate and division you so obsessively expel. Hope you have a wonderful day!
Nothing political here just a thug that breaks the law and gets judged by judges with no ballls or spine and don’t give a shit about the folks that follow the law. Screw these worthless judges and prosecutors time to remove clean house.
So did they get a supervisor? Ijw.
TACO Don says thanks for reppin!
Neither 4:33 or 7:01 had any substantial reason for calling out 7:07 a.m. He used the capital letters appropriately. His post was intelligent and interesting as well.
used the capital letters appropriately.
lol
Yet again, Dean Dankleson proves he’s soft on crime.
