Springfield woman killed in rollover crash on I-44

A Springfield woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident 1:45 a.m. Tuesday on I-44 three miles east of Mount Vernon.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2017 Jeep Patriot driven by a 26-year-old Springfield woman ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

She was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:56 a.m.

A passenger, a 28-year-old Lebanon man, was treated for minor injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.

The fatality was the 74th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
