The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed kidnapping and domestic assault charges today against a Joplin man who allegedly beat and kicked his wife and held her against her will for 14 hours.
An arrest warrant was issued for Charles Thomas Davidson III (DOB 1979) with bond set at $25,000 cash only.
From the probable cause statement:
V1 came to the station to report an assault that took place at 1824 S Harlem Ave. Her husband Charles Davidson came and picked her up in Carterville and took her to where he was staying at his mom's house. There they went into the garage, where Charles then accused the victim of cheating on him andhaving relations with other men.
When the allegations were denied by V1, Charles began assaulting her by punching her in the throat and on the left side of her face then slapping her numerous times. The punches left bruises on her cheeks and throat and her lips were severely swollen even hours after the assault.
During the assault, V1 fell back onto the couch that was in the garage where she was kept for approximately 14 hrs against her will. She was forced to soil herself even due to Charles not letting
her leave.
her leave.
Anytime she would try to deny the allegations he would kick her and punch her. He kicked her in the chest to the point where paramedics that were called to the station believed she had some broken ribs. V1 was finally able to get away promising that she would not tell anyone what had happened and that she would not involve the police.
V1 stated several times she believed he was going to kill her during the assault.
Charles also took and broke V1's phone to keep her from reaching out to anyone during the time she was kept in the garage. V1's daughter attempted to report her as a missing person due to not hearing from her for that long.
It should be noted Charles Davidson is 6 ft 2in and 260 lbs compared to V1 who is a little over 5 ft tall and 135-140 lbs.
