It looks like Al Hanson's magic has worn off. Four years ago, the unknown embarrassed Republicans by winning the primary and setting up a slaughter at the hands of Democrat Claire McCaskill.
This time, with a little over 16 percent of the vote in, Hanson is dead last in a five-way race, polling only 4.85 percent, according to the Kansas City Star.
Taking the lead is Platte County Auditor Sandra Thomas, the choice of Governor Matt Blunt and Congressman Sam Graves with 29.23 percent. As noted often in this blog, Ms. Thomas' campaign treasurer is Nick Myers, a Joplin CPA and GOP bigwig.
Second is Rep. Jack Jackson, Kansas City, with 26.43 percent, followed by Sen. John Loudon, St. Louis, with 23.26 percent, and Rep. Mark Wright, Springfield, with 16.23 percent.
