(News release from Midwest Quality Construction)
Midwest Quality Construction is pleased to announce that their first Joplin rebuilding project is underway at 2131 Park Place. Dubbed the “Hope House” by MQC owners Shawn and Kim Kinnaird, the project is the first of many that MQC plans to build in the area.
The home is being built on a lot with an existing foundation. Upon completion, the home will be 1368 square feet with a covered front and back porch, brick and vinyl siding on the front, and siding on both sides and the back. Kinnaird also rearranged some of the floor plan basics, putting the laundry room in a more convenient location and increasing the kitchen size. The home will feature a bar, an open floor plan with hardwood floors throughout, with the exception of carpeting in the bedrooms and tile in the bathrooms and laundry room.
“This is the first lot that we bought, and it had the existing foundation that we could rebuild on,” Shawn Kinnaird said. “To us, it seemed significant to rebuild, and a sign of hope that the Joplin community could come back. Despite the devastation, the foundation that made this house strong, just like the foundation that makes Joplin strong, is still there.”
After the tornado hit, the Kinnairds picked up their lives in Springfield, packed their equipment, and heeded the call to help rebuild Joplin. Spending their time not in their home just outside of Springfield, but in a fifth wheel trailer, the Kinnairds are digging in and helping the community rebuild. With friends and colleagues in the area, Joplin is more than a neighboring city to the Kinnairds; it is a place that people they care about call home.
With the tagline, “We Believe”, Midwest Quality Construction has a strong belief in their friends and neighbors in Joplin, and have lined up fellow “Believers” to support them in their work, including Meeks, James River Landscaping, Flood Heating & Air, Coatney Framing, 3G Masonry, and more.
“When we came, it was because we believe Joplin will come back, will be rebuilt, will be bigger and better than ever,” Kinnaird said. “The Believers teamed up with us, because they believe that as well. They are jumping in and helping us get things accomplished quickly, so that we can provide homes. We all believe in Joplin, and know that Joplin can and will come back.”
Having made a name for himself in quality home construction in the Springfield area for a number of years, Shawn Kinnaird will continue his construction work in Joplin, while Kim will be busy selling the properties. An accomplished Realtor with a thriving business back in Springfield, Kim will represent MQC properties through her company, Team 24-7 Realtors, part of Murney Associates. MQC currently has six home lots in Joplin and Carl Junction, and plans to not only continue to build spec homes, but expand that to build and design custom homes. As a family owned and operated company, MQC is excited to play a part in Joplin’s rebuilding process, and looks forward to the next few years where they too will call Joplin home.
