Seven establishments fail Joplin Health Department inspections

Seven establishments failed Joplin Health Department inspections this week, according to information posted on the department website. 

Those receiving failing grades were MSSU Lion's Den, 3950 E. Newman Road; Union Station Deli, 705 S. Illinois Avenue; Wilder's Steakhouse, 1216 S. Main Street; Fastrip Joplin, 5501 E. 32nd Street; It's Greek to Me, 101 N. Range Line Road; Maverick, 5002 S. Main Street; and Nice Guys, 101 N. Range Line Road.

Twelve establishments passed inspection.


MSSU Lion's Den

MSSU Lion's Den received a priority violation for having chicken and cheese in the under counter cooler being cold held above 41 degrees and four core violations, which can be found at this link.







Union Station Deli

Union Station Deli received three priority violations:

-An employee drink was on the storage shelves across from the pass-through dishwasher.

-An employee picked something off the floor and then attempted to work with food without changing gloves.

-Multiple potentially hazardous foods were being cold held above 41 degrees.

Wilder's Steakhouse

Wilder's Steakhouse received priority violations for having dressings, cut tomatoes, cheese and cut leafy greens in the top portion of the prep table cooler being cold held above 41 degrees and for having sanitizer concentration for chlorine in the dish machine at 10 ppm.

Fastrip Joplin

Fastrip Joplin received priority violations for having string cheese and burgers in the display cooler being cold held above 41 degrees in one cooler and for having ham sandwiches and burritos in another cooler being cold held above 41 degrees.

It's Greek to Me

During a re-inspection after failing an inspection recently, It's Greek to Me received one priority violation for having several tubes of frozen hamburger meat being stored in non-food grade shopping bags in the reach-in freezer, 22 core violations and an administrative violation for not having a health permit posted.

Maverick

Maverick received priority violations for having cut tomatoes in the garnish section being cold held above 41 degrees and for having potentially hazardous foods in the open air display being cold held above 41 degrees.

 Nice Guys

Nice Guys received a priority violation for not sanitizing utensils and equipment after cleaning and before being used. The staff who were present were not aware that was necessary, according to the report.
