(From Fourth District Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler)
Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) has released the following Veterans Day statement to honor America’s men and women who have served our country:
“Veterans Day provides America with the opportunity to pay tribute to our men and women in uniform who have sacrificed to keep us free. Since its origin as Armistice Day marking the end of World War One on November 11, 1918, it has been a day for Americans to honor those who have served at home and abroad.
As the daughter of an Army Reservist, I learned the importance of this day early on in life. Now, as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, my respect and admiration for the defenders of our freedoms grow every day. The security we enjoy today is the result of the selflessness of the patriots who have given up so much on our behalf.
We honor the sacrifices and devotion of those who have given so much to this country. And, as America now faces threats from terrorists and rogue nations, we again thank all the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces, and their families who have made and continue to make sacrifices of their own. It is the very least we can do on this day to say ‘thank you’ to our American heroes.”
