Tornado warning issued for Joplin, Jasper, Newton counties

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* TORNADO WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHEASTERN CHEROKEE COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST KANSAS...
  SOUTHWESTERN JASPER COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
  NORTHWESTERN NEWTON COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...

* UNTIL 115 AM CDT

* AT 1250 AM CDT...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A
  TORNADO WAS LOCATED 10 MILES WEST OF SENECA...AND MOVING NORTHEAST
  AT 55 MPH.

  HAZARD...TORNADO.

  SOURCE...RADAR INDICATED ROTATION.

  IMPACT...FLYING DEBRIS WILL BE DANGEROUS TO THOSE CAUGHT WITHOUT
           SHELTER. MOBILE HOMES WILL BE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED. DAMAGE
           TO ROOFS...WINDOWS AND VEHICLES WILL OCCUR. TREE DAMAGE IS
           LIKELY.

* LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
  AIRPORT DRIVE...BAXTER SPRINGS...CARL JUNCTION...DIAMOND...
  DUENWEG...DUQUESNE...GALENA...IRON GATES...JOPLIN...LEAWOOD...
  SAGINAW...SENECA...SHOAL CREEK DRIVE AND SILVER CREEK.

INTERSTATE 44 BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 0 AND 12 WILL ALSO BE IMPACTED BY
THIS DANGEROUS STORM.

THIS STORM HAS LIKELY PRODUCED SEVERAL BRIEF TORNADOES ACROSS
NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA.  ADDITIONAL BRIEF TORNADOES ARE EXPECTED AS
THIS STORM MOVES INTO SOUTHWESTERN MISSOURI AND SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS.
