Former Diamond mayor pleads guilty to assaulting disabled woman, has to take anger management program

Former Diamond Mayor Brenda Schmitt pleaded guilty to assaulting a constituent September 24, 2020, received a suspended sentence, was placed on unsupervised probation for two years, according to online Newton County Circuit Court records.

Schmitt will be required to complete an anger management program at the Ozark Center. She will be required to pay $117.50 in fines and court costs by June 1.

The misdemeanor charge stemmed from an incident in which Schmitt attacked a constituent who was using her cell phone to make a video.

According to the probable cause statement, Schmitt "physically placed her hands on (the victim) in an attempt to knock her phone out of her hand.

"She was filming Ms. Schmitt after an altercation at the Diamond City Hall in Diamond, Missouri. During the events, Ms. Schmitt pulled (her) hair and hit her in an attempt to obtain (her) cell phone and prevent (her)from filming."

At one point, the victim's son posted the video on YouTube under the title "Mayor of the City of Diamond Missouri assaulting my disabled mother."

Brenda is a very nice woman who did a good job during her time as Mayor in Diamond. Too many people try to pull out a cellphone to record anything hoping to make money.

Former Diamond Mayor Brenda Schmitt - should have been jailed for Assault. This "KAREN" - got off easy - with just a Small Fine - -

If you are in Politics or the Public Eye - you will be Videoed or Photographed - just part of the Job, and if you are easily Angered or have a Temper - - Politics are not a Place to Aspire to be in.

It either happened or it didn’t…
Leave the feelings police out of this.
