Rita Glasgow sentenced to 10 years for meth trafficking to run concurrently with Jasper County sentence

Rita Glasgow, 33, Joplin, was sentenced to 10 years in prison today on a meth trafficking charge during a hearing this morning in U. S. District Court in Springfield. The sentence will run concurrently with the 23-year sentence she received in Jasper County Circuit Court for the DWI accident that killed Terry and Rhonda Copple of Joplin.

Glasgow pleaded guilty under a plea agreement that called for the sentence she received, but the U. S. Attorney's office, in a sentencing memorandum asked for the sentence to run consecutively with the Jasper County sentence and a four-year sentence Glasgow received in Newton County in July 2022 for meth trafficking.

In addition to the 10-year sentence, Judge Douglas Harpool ordered Glasgow to be placed in a 500-hour substance abuse program. After she completes her sentence, she will be under supervised probation for five years.
