Plea hearing set for Joplin man charged with brutally spanking 11-year-old, forcing him to drink habanero sauce

A plea hearing is scheduled 9 a.m. Monday in Jasper County Circuit Court for a Joplin man charged with felony child abuse.

The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office apparently reached a plea deal with John W. Mason, 37, about a week before his case was scheduled to go to trial June 26. The trial date was stricken June 20, according to online court records.

The case has been languishing in the system for more than four years.

Mason and Robert W. Black-Gamble, 34, Joplin, were charged with child abuse after an investigation by the Missouri Department of Social Services and the Joplin Police Department determined an 11-year-old boy whose mother had left Black-Gamble to babysit him. The case had been hotlined after the child showed up at school with severe bruising of his buttocks.

According to the probable cause statement, Black-Gamble made the 11-year-old do strenuous physical exercises for seven hours and when the child complained, Black-Gamble spanked him, using at various times his hand, a belt, a tree branch and a wooden kitchen utensil.

The beatings left the boy in such pain that he was unable to go to school the following day.

The probable cause affidavit says Mason also spanked the child and punished him by making him drink habanero sauce.

Black-Gamble pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years in prison with the requirement that he serve at least one full year.

Judge David Mouton will preside over Mason's plea hearing.

Both John W. Mason and Robert W. Black-Gamble, are two Perverted and Sick Individuals. Why did it take this case Four Years of languishing in our Court System? THIS IS RIDICULOUS...

I AM JUST OUTRAGED - AT WHAT THESE TWO INHUMAN A$$HOLES - DID TO THIS CHILD AND THAT OUR LAZY JUSTICE - COURT SYSTEMS - JUDGES, PROSECUTING ATTORNEYS - LET THIS CASE EXTEND FOR THIS AMOUNT OF TIME. THEY ARE ALL GUILTY FOR EXTENDING THIS CHILD'S PAIN...

Plus what kind of Mother - would leave their Child with these two Animals - - and then the School has to be the ones to notify the Authorities - Not the Mother... This is a Tragedy of ERRORS - - that this Poor Child had to Endure - -

I just HOPE - That these Two Bastards - - Receive Similar and More Painful - Retribution in Prison - - and the Rest of their Miserable Lives - - For what they did to this Child...

To Bad - We don't still have FRONTIER JUSTICE - -

Since our Justice System Spent So Much Time Pampering these Criminals - I HOPE AND PRAY That this Child was given Counseling and got what ever Help to Deal with the Emotional and Physical Scars of this Situation - - LET'S NOT FORGET ABOUT THE VICTIM...

Our Criminal Systems - are just to EASY ON THESE CRIMINALS - -

STOP FEELING SORRRY FOR THE CRIMINALS AND START FEELING SORRY FOR THE VICTIMS...
