Seigel' indictment stems from a Newton County Sheriff's Office investigation, according to a motion for a detention hearing filed today.

In this case, members of the Newton County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) took a report from the defendant’s alleged intimate partner of a past assault occurring on or about August 22, 2022.

NCSO detectives went to the defendant’s residence and immediately observed the strong odor of marijuana emanating from the residence. NCSO detectives applied for and received a narcotics related search warrant for the residence. During the search, the detectives found approximately three pounds of marijuana, a mushroom grow, dried mushrooms, and a pressure cooker containing mushroom spores.

All of the items were sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crime lab, where they were identified as marijuana and psilocyn. Further, a search of a safe at the residence uncovered numerous firearms. The
defendant is a prohibited person by virtue of a conviction for second offense possession of marijuana out of Montgomery County, Kansas, an offense which a court could imprison him for a period greater than one year; the defendant served a prison sentence on this offense and therefore would’ve known of his status as a convicted felon.
