Million-dollar CEO Robert Parker owns 10 percent of O'Sullivan Industries, a once Lamar-based company now located in Atlanta, Ga., according to a filing today with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

ConAgra, which has a sizable operation in Carthage, confirmed in a filing today with the SEC its earlier announcement that it would be late with its quarterly report and other filings due to some incorrect calculations in tax matters which would decrease the company's after-tax profits between $150 million and $200 million. The company said the mistakes will be addressed in its quarterly report.

Another East Newton graduate has been named to an elementary principal's position. It was mentioned in The Turner Report recently that Ronna Patterson, a member of the EN Class of 1977, has been named principal at Pleasant Valley Elementary in the Carthage R-9 School District. Today's Monett Times reports that the Pierce City R-6 Board has tabbed Teresa Abramovitz, a 1971 EN grad and a former teacher in the East Newton R-6 School District, as elementary principal. For the past few years, Ms. Abramovitz has been Wheaton Elementary principal.
Even more good news, every morning when I shave, I find myself staring at the face of one person who will never be a principal, certainly good news for area education.
