More than four years have passed since the murder of nine-year-old Rowan Ford, Stella, a Triway Elementary fourth grader, and still no one has come to trial in the case.
The trial of one of the two men accused in the murder, Chris Collings of Wheaton, is scheduled to begin in February in Phelps County, but those of us who are interested in following developments in the case will be unable to find anything online.
The judge ruled Monday that no more filings in the case will be placed online until a jury is impaneled and sequestered to prevent jurors or potential jurors from being able to research the case.
Considering how much information about the Rowan Ford murder is on the internet already and out of the reach of this judge (and includes much more detail than what is included in the online court file) it appears the only people who will be penalized by this decision are the people in the Stella area who have an enormous interest in following developments in this case which has traumatized the community since November 2007.
