In his address on the opening day of the 2016 legislature, Speaker of the House Todd Richardson said he did not drive to Jefferson City every Monday to serve in "a gridlocked legislature embroiled in controversy.:

Richardson also said he would pass along every ethics bill to the Government Oversight and Accountability Committee.
