Joplin Honky files notice to appeal 24-year sentence for meth trafficking

Jason A. Russell, 33, a member of the Joplin Honkys gang, filed notice today that he intends to appeal the 24-year sentence he received Thursday for meth trafficking.

Russell's attorney, Darryl Johnson, Nixa, filed the notice in U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

Russell was sentenced for crimes that occurred between April 2019 and February 2021. His co-defendant, Brittany J. Adcock, 29, Neosho was sentenced to 10 years May 10.

The sentence, which was handed out by Judge Douglas Harpool, was less than the 30 years recommended by the government, which cited Russell's lengthy criminal history and tendency toward violence.
