Probable cause: Neosho Dollar General manager admits to stealing $18K, blowing it all at Indigo Sky Casino

Felony stealing charges were filed Wednesday in Newton County Circuit Court against the manager of the Dollar General store at 17451 Highway Y in Neosho.

Derek Wayne Cullum (DOB 1984), Neosho, allegedly stole $18,670.13 and blew it all at Indigo Sky Casino.

The charges against Cullum were filed following an internal investigation that indicated Cullum failed to make bank deposits between March 10 and March 18. A check with the bank determined with deposits had not been made.

I made contact with Cullum, where he was Mirandized on a recorded body camera and he confirmed that he was robbed. I arrested him for stealing, and he was transported to the Newton County Jail. Once inside the Jail, Cullum eventually confessed to myself and Sgt. Cabrera on recorded body cam, after Miranda rights, that he did in fact gamble all the money at the Indigo Casino over the course of the Month of March.

The probable cause statement indicates Cullum initially told Newton County Sheriff's Office investigators he had been robbed, then was placed under arrest.

From the probable cause statement:

Once inside the Jail, Cullum eventually confessed to myself and Sgt. Cabrera on recorded body cam, after Miranda rights, that he did in fact gamble all the money at the Indigo Casino over the course of the Month of March.

Cullum's bond was set $3,500 cash or surety.

Wow - $18K, is a lot of money stolen by Derek Cullum, to just Gamble away in a one-months' time. There has been so many people locally stealing from Non-Profits, Banks, and Businesses to feed their Gambling Habits. Companies need to make sure they have internal auditing and checks and balances in place so they can Stop fraudulent theft on a quicker basis.

Maybe someday people will learn there is no quick way to become wealthy and taking shortcuts through Criminal Actions will only lead to their downfall. They will need to make him serve jail time and repay what he stole for his Crime, and hopefully this Dollar General Store is insured against fraudulent thefts and loses.

The casinos have brought nothing but trouble to our area. Millions of dollars have been embezzled locally and ran through the slot machines! We only hear about those who get caught. Close these terrible places.

Yes, People are extremely gullible, thinking that they can when at Lottery or hit it big at the Casinos, while spending all their money or stealing it to try and accomplish something that the Odds are against.

The Indian gaming industry in the United States generated an income of $40.9 billion U.S. Dollars in 2022, and that is During the Covid Pandemic.

Tribal casinos represent a significant revenue stream for a number of federally recognized tribes. Tribal casinos are likewise Free from U.S. Taxes. READ THAT AGAIN, FREE FROM TAXES...

The Tribes in some states Pay Taxes on the Distribution Share of the Money to the Individuals of the Tribes.

Oklahoma has more Indian casinos than any other state in the nation.

143 Indian Casinos and Indian Gaming Centers

Oklahoma has 33 tribes operating 143 Indian casinos and gaming centers located across 50 Oklahmoa counties.

These 143 gambling locations include Class III casinos with vegas-style gambling, Class II casinos with no-banker electronic gaming, travel plazas with slot machines, and smoke shops with Indian gaming.

Oklahoma Indian gaming is the state's second largest industry. It is also the largest Indian gaming revenue in the country after California. Revenues from Indian gaming and casino construction in 2017 was $7.2 billion.

So how would you like to be allowed to run a Cash-Cow Business without having Uncle Sam - Looking over your Shoulder.

You might say - that the White Man took the Indians Land, but the Red Man has definitely Profited from the Freedom to Run Gambling Casinos and are taking their Profits and Investing and Buying other Mainstream Businesses, Lending Companies, and Other Ventures.
