Dakota James Alton (DOB 1994), Carthage, was arrested earlier this week as a suspect in a violent assault at a Galena, Kansas residence.
The following news release was issued Saturday by the Galena Police Department:
On 11/12/25 Galena Pd received information of an assault that occurred in Galena.The assault had actually occurred early in the morning hours of 11/11/25. The suspect kicked the front door in of the victim's house and went in the victim's bedroom and violently assaulted the victim. The assault continued until the victim was able to break free and run to a neighbors.
The suspect was identified as Dakota James Alton.
Galena Officers filed charges with the Cherokee County Prosecutor’s Office and Multiple Felony charges were issued.
Galena Officers received information of a location in Webb City Missouri where Alton was possibly staying. Webb City Officers located Alton and he was taken into custody. This was an isolated incident.
The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
