Newton County deputy's assistance to family in need earns Deputy of the Quarter recognition

(From the Newton County Sheriff's Office)

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office recognizes Deputy Will Weiser as Deputy of the Quarter, for the third quarter of 2025.

On August 20th Deputy Weiser was on routine patrol and had stopped at the Loves gas station on Highway 43 to fuel his vehicle. While there he was contacted by the clerk about a concern of a male and two small children that had been parked on the lot for an extended period of time. Dep. Weiser learned that the man and his two small children had become homeless and were living in the vehicle. Deputy

Weiser found that the family’s resources were down to a half of a case of water, a jar of peanut butter and two cans of peaches. Deputy Weiser began looking for resources to get the family assistance. He received help from Joplin Police Officer Derek Berry.

Deputy Weiser was able to find help for the kids at the Children’s Haven in Joplin. However, it was discovered that the man did not have enough gas in his vehicle to get the kids to the Children’s Haven.

Officer Berry bought gas for the family while Deputy Weiser went into the store and bought food and cases of water. Both Deputy Weiser and Officer Berry began making phone calls and received several donations of kids clothing from their friends and family.

The next day, Deputy Weiser went to the Children’s Haven to check on the kids. He brought with him new clothes, shoes and diapers that he purchased himself.

Deputy Weiser went above and beyond when he saw the need of this family. This is an excellent example of two law enforcement officers coming together to help people in need. The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is proud to recognize this action by Deputy Weiser.

Thank you, Deputy Will Weiser, for your dedication to the community and willingness to lend assistance to those in need.

This what our country needs, helping a man up instead of kicking him while he’s down. Great job officers, I pray it rubs off on all of us to help one another.

It's always worth remembering that Republicans are absolutely convinced that helping anyone presents a Great Moral Hazard. If we do not let people starve to death, then NOBODY will want to work! Therefore, we must deprive as many people of food as possible otherwise they will not be motivated to work.

These are the same people who believe that being poor is a lifestyle choice. That losing one's job is something of a gift because unemployment benefits exist. That lacking health insurance is a net positive because it encourages people to not get sick.

In sum, Republicans are seriously screwed up emotionally and mentally.

But, it's all in their bible!

This has nothing to do with this article and has no truth to it. Please seek mental help.
This republican donated over $5,000 worth of food and clothing this year. We just ordered five pallets of canned goods to distribute for Christmas as well.
Thanks.

Great job guys! There needs to be more people like these two men in the world.

It’s a shame one mental person had to turn this into a political soap box.

11:33 and 6:44 should both be very ashamed of themselves.

This has nothing to do with politics, you need to see people as people first, before throwing an arbitrary label on them and hating them because the TV said so.

9:05 I absolutely agree with you!! Great comment! These officers should be held as a great example for their dedication to humanity. Nothing about rising to aid and assist another human being should ever be made political. There is nothing political about what they did, nor why they did it. Just plain human compassion. They are showing an example that many in this community and country need to follow. If there were more humans who rise to assist all people in need, we would definitely make our country great again. I personally commend them for their dedication to assist this father and the two young children. A huge THANK YOU goes out to these deserving officers!!

9:05, 4:59, It was 11:33 who brought up political liberal hate as usual and 6:44 who tried to shutdown them down and praise our policeman, military, and national guard for doing their jobs and going beyond, when all they receive is hate and violence against them, never praise or accolades or even a thank-you. The majority of Americans know the tough jobs these individuals do, while others have to always bring hate and violence, yet what political party do you think does that - and yes, the police, military, and national guard do this day in and day out, by going beyond and helping out where needed, so why do you think one political party continues to want to cut back on supporting our police in hiring, salaries, while their cities turn into murder capitals? So, Thanks to all the Police, Military, and National Guard - Who is there every day and goes beyond to Protect and Serve - Plus - Honoring All Who Served - Veterans Day - November 11, 2025.

7:00 neither 4:59 or 9:05 thought it was necessary of 11:33 or 6:44 to bring either sides of the political spectrum into this conversation. This is just about two outstanding officers who stood up for one gentleman and his two young children and assisted them with much needed help. Nothing political about what they did at all. Therefore, politics did not need to be brought up. Tearing one side down while trying to push your political agenda is called bullying, which occurs frequently in these comments. The two officers did a wonderful humanitarian service that we all should use as an example. Very simple concept for most people who are able to read and comprehend what they read. Being a decent human is not political, it’s just caring about your fellow human.

9:51, What the Officers did was go above and beyond in their jobs and should be praised for that. What 11:33, did was what most liberals do all the time, preach hate and violence. What 6:44 did was stand up for the officers, military, and the national guard, since the majority goes beyond the average every single day. These officers' actions are a celebration of doing the right thing for all the right reasons, but I will tell you that liberals cannot stand that when someone does the right thing, they must post hate and violence, it is in every social media post, blogs, and in the news daily - that is what you need to call bullying. These are the same people that post negative comments, hate and violence speech and then whine and cry when they asked to prove and validate they need food stamps, ebt, section 8 and other social programs, when they are receiving this thanks to hardworking taxpayers or celebrates a husband and father for getting assassinated for discussing his beliefs in an open forum and celebrates his assassination, these are liberals. How many times have we all seen this, it is not acceptable, but this is who they are. So, this article wasn't political, but liberals make it that way and we cannot accept that - it is shameful and their words have consequences, even though they have the constitutional right to say it - people do not have to support it or accept it. I and others choose to STOP THEM IN THEIR TRACKS - these leftist liberals are not and will never be the VOICES OF AMERICA. So, we praise all of the Officer's Actions, but condone all of these leftist liberals, who have to spout hate and violence. If anyone dare think 47-Million people needs food stamps or are not able to work, you are very misinformed, this should be a program that people truly need to survive, not take advantage or our American Generosity.

11:14 you really need to get off your Fox News and see the outside world. Not everything is political, unless that is all you seem to have in your life. Which tells me you’re older, less educated, unable to read and comprehend what you just read, have little to no family that bothers coming around, possibly because of your political views and beliefs. Plus lots of anger for being left behind, so you hid behind this none stop posting of political BS. There is still a huge world out there once you wake up and go explore it. Politics does not need to be involved in everything. There is way more to life than politics. Believe it or not there are good people on both sides. Neither of these two officers put out anything about their political beliefs, nor did the gentleman and two little children they assisted. Quit beating a dead horse!! This was not a political article, it was a humanitarian story, which I find very refreshing and heartwarming.
