Joplin man charged with sexual misconduct, disturbing the peace

The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney filed misdemeanor sexual misconduct, peace disturbance and minor visibly intoxicated charges against a Joplin man who stood on the shoulder of I-49 with his pants down and urinating in the view of oncoming traffic, according to the probable cause statement.

An arrest warrant was issued for Hayden Ray Bennett, 20, with bond set at $1,000 cash or surety.

From the probable cause statement:

Additionally, I observed Bennett sprint across both southbound lanes of Interstate 49 while other traffic was present, creating a disruption to traffic.

Bennett was the front seat passenger in a vehicle with Oklahoma license plates that took off, according to the statement.

Bennett provided a preliminary breath sample revealing a BAC of 0.309.

According to the probable cause statement, Bennett was taken to a local hospital where he was uncooperative and created a disturbance.
