Democrats view Carnahan as one of their top recruits in the country and Missouri as their best chance to pick up a seat currently held by a Republican. (Sen. Kit Bondis retiring.) But, Missouri is also the only state President Obama targeted in a meaningful way that he didn't win in 2008, a defeat that reveals the conservative underpinnings of the Show Me State.

Poll shows Blunt leading by six points in Senate race
The latest poll showing Seventh District Congressman Roy Blunt leading Secretary of State Robin Carnahan by six points in he U. S. Senate race is examined this morning in Washington Post political writer Chris Cillizza on his "Morning Fix" e-newsletter:

I just love the way the media discounts the possibility of Chuck Pergusan taking the Washington insider Blunt's nomination. No worry, he will kick Carnahan's can just as bad as Blunt would have.
I just love the way that Chuck "Pergusan"'s supporter doesn't even know how to spell his name...... it is PURGASON......
So I suppose that may answer why he isn't considered in polling data.... if his supporters can't even spell the Senators name correctly, why should he be taken as a viable threat to the nomination.
For the record, I think Sen. Purgason is a good man. However, that alone doesn't win a US Senate race..
Chuck is an excellent statesman. Running for the right reasons.
I hope he carries his current Senate District in the race so people will show their appreciation for him.
That's all I'm going to say about that.
