My guess is almost all of the 400 people shoehorned into Memorial Hall in Carthage for the Lincoln Ladies Ice Cream Social wanted to answer Jenny Mansfield's question the same way.
As she examined the list of lieutenant governor candidates, she asked, "Is Peter Kinder here?"
It was obvious he wasn't on the stage waiting to speak. His opponent, Brad Lager, was there, ready to deliver his three-minute sales pitch to Jasper County voters.
Just like everyone else who has been bombarded by the ad every night at dinnertime, my thoughts wandered to that place where the ad claims Kinder was when he should have been breaking a tie vote in the Senate.
Thankfully, no one shouted out, "He's at the Horny Toad bar." And I am absolutely sure he wasn't since that establishment has reportedly changed its name to something like H. Toad (Obviously in an effort not to run off those who might be thirsty, but not horny.)
When Peter Kinder didn't answer the last call (no jokes about that), Jenny Mansfield called for his opponent, who promised to restore Missouri to prosperity.
