When White's opponent, former Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce President Rob O'Brian announced his candidacy in February, I reviewed his record and posted "The man who brought us Wallace Bajjali wants to take his leadership to Jefferson City."
A friend told me several days ago that Bill White was promoting that post in a paid Facebook message. I am not sure how much it helped his campaign, but it certainly did not hurt. For most of the week, that post was number one, until it was passed late in the week.
On the other blogs, Inside Joplin was topped for the second straight week by a report on a missing Joplin woman and three of the top five posts on Inside Joplin Obituaries were posted earlier today.
A Message to Turner Report/Inside Joplin/Inside Joplin Obituaries readers
Just a reminder. While the readership and influence of the Turner Report/Inside Joplin blogs continues to increase, the percentage of those who are subscribing or contributing remains woefully small. I don't expect this ever to happen, but if each person who reads the Turner Report, Inside Joplin or Inside Joplin Obituaries and feels he or she has received value were to contribute even two dollars, it would enable me to greatly expand what I am doing now, including more Freedom of Information and Sunshine Law requests for investigative reporting, updated equipment to increase local photo and video coverage, podcasting, and even eventually adding reporting by other people.
The last two months have been particularly slow, so give it some thought.
