The financial arms race for Missouri governor continued today with Kenny Hulshof answering the $670,000 posted by Jay Nixon earlier today with $325,000, including $300,000 from the Humphreys family of TAMKO in Joplin.
The Missouri Ethics Commission posting indicates family matriarch EthelMae Humphreys and her children, David Humphreys, and Susan Humphreys Atkins, each contributed $100,000. The other $25,000 came from Herzog Contracting Corporation of St. Joseph.
Since the removal of campaign contribution limits, the Humphreys family has contributed three quarters of a million dollars to Republican candidates, $300,000 to both Hulshof and Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, and $150,000 to attorney general candidate Michael Gibbons.
Since Aug. 28, Hulshof has received $1,614,250 in $5,000+ contributions, while Nixon's haul is $1,096,650.
