Lauren Hieger leaving KODE

Lauren Hieger, KODE anchor since Dec. 5, 2006, is leaving to take a PR position in St. Louis.

Her last day will be this Thursday.

It will be interesting to see what effect, if any, this has on KODE's performance in the upcoming November sweeps.

I wonder if her departure has anything to do with the management shake-up? Alledgedly, corporate has had enough and sent in their own guy from Springfield. He briefly worked for the team at KOAM/KFJX. Story has it, that corporate thinks a little KOAM/KFJX might be good for the Nexstar family. If the rumors are true, you have to believe that their will be many heads to roll. They all criticize the Danny Thomas model from KOAM/KFJX but will likely try to copy it. Why not, last I looked, KOAM/KFJX kicked their bottom.

KOAM and the Danny Thomas model only get criticized by those outside KOAM/KFJX. Outsiders have to criticize something, and since admitting that what those stations do as superior, it is easier to villanize someone, like Mr Thomas. I've never heard employees of KOAM/KFJX criticize him, unlike Mr Speck at MSSU.

That place has been on a downhill slide for a long time...it really does need some leadership.

Agreed

Theres nothing wrong with the leadership of KODE-TV. She didnt leave because of the leadership. She left the business due to the crappy economy. Not to mention she wanted to do something else for awhile so she could get closer to family.

Made KODE can get someone with talent to fill her seat.

There's nothing good to say about her. I thought she stunk! She talked so fast she ran material together constantly losing her place and having to backtrack, mispronounced words and names (Tawnya Bach is notorious for that, too) and obviously couldn't get off the air quick enough. Glad she left. She should have been let go a long time ago. Maybe now they'll hire a more professional anchor. Oh yeau, someone said she was pretty. If you like big, wide fat noses.

I and my family will miss Lauren. She was so kind to my son, who has autism, and was genuine as a person. She remembered his name every time he saw her and said "hi" and gave him a hug. She was a beautiful person inside and out and very talented. I think people don't realize how difficult it can be to report news on television and not stumble on words. I am glad she will be closer to her loved ones, but she will be missed. She was so kind and generous to our family and we all loved her.
