Funeral services Saturday for Edmon Cooper, 155th Joplin Tornado victim

Edmon A. Cooper, age 88, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Freeman West Hospital.

Edmon was born June 15, 1923 in Wheaton, Missouri, son of the late Charles and May Cooper. He worked as a mechanic with farm equipment for Massey Ferguson from 1950 until 1988. He then went to work at Vollenweider Orchid in Exeter, Missouri which he did until retiring in 1995. He was an Army Veteran of World War II with the 96th Division.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Cooper who died January 4, 2011, a daughter, Pamela Sue Murdock, brothers, Olen Cooper and Cecil Cooper; sisters, Elsie Phillips, Bernice Charles, and Blanche Lee.

Survivors include a son, Karl Cooper of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter, Vicky Weaver of Clarksville, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Glenn Cooper of Purdy, Missouri.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Parker Mortuary Chapel with Bob Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Cory Murdock, Kyle Murdock, Taylor Tracy, David Clymer, Alex Clymer, and Devin Keeling serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
