As is often the case, the news that was featured in those posts has not appeared in the area's newspaper of record, the Joplin Globe.
The number four post of all time, and the number two post for this week, is last week's number one post, Betsy DeVos and the Blunt Connection.
At a time when many newspapers were reporting about the senators who had received campaign contributions from the DeVos family, it is almost incomprehensible that only two newspapers even touched on the revelation that All Children Matter, an organization that was headed by Betsy DeVos at the time, paid $196,252.33 to bombard the state with anti-Claire McCaskill ads during the waning days of the 2004 governor's race.
The beneficiary of that action, of course, was Sen. Roy Blunt's son, Matt, who eked out a 51 percent to 49 percent win over McCaskill.
The Springfield News-Leader followed up on that post and added even more information, especially noting the connection between All Children Matter and another enemy of public education, retired billionaire Rex Sinquefield.
The only other media source I can find that touched on the involvement of All Children Matter in the 2004 governor's race was the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which might have well have just forgotten about it. The Post-Dispatch's major concern was that Roy Blunt's Wikipedia page had been changed to reflect the All Children Matter contribution.
The newspaper did not seem to be confirmed that when you add the $196,252.33 to the $38,000 he received in campaign contributions, Blunt has benefited more from the DeVos family fortune than almost any other senator.
No other newspaper or media source, with the exception of the Tony's Kansas City blog even mentioned it. The Kansas City Star had nothing and it certainly did not make the pages of the Joplin Globe.
The top post for the week, and the number six post of all time, I was late on- nearly three months late- and the post has readers upset.
Former Joplin pediatric surgeon Guy Rosenschein faces child pornography charges in New Mexico and court records indicate photos of children's genitalia, taken in a medical setting, were among the items confiscated by authorities. A class action lawsuit has also been filed against Rosenschein, which is the number four post for this week.
I have heard from reader whose children were patients of Dr. Rosenschein and naturally, they want to know if he might have done such things while he was in Joplin. At this point, there is no information to indicate that, but since his problems pre-date his time in Joplin and have taken place since he left here, people have good reason to be concerned.
