Joplin man who spanked 11-year-old, forced him to drink habanero sauce pleads guilty, receives suspended sentence

A Joplin man who spanked an 11-year-old boy and made him drink habanero sauce as punishment pleaded guilty this morning in Jasper County Circuit Court.

John W. Mason, 37, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of endangering the welfare of a child under a plea agreement with the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office. The original charge was child abuse.

Judge David Mouton approved the agreement, sentencing Mason to four years in prison, then suspending the sentence and placing him on supervised probation for five years.

Mason and Robert W. Black-Gamble, 34, Joplin, were charged with child abuse in January 2019 after an investigation by the Missouri Department of Social Services and the Joplin Police Department determined an 11-year-old boy whose mother had left Black-Gamble to babysit him. The case had been hotlined after the child showed up at school with severe bruising of his buttocks.

Black-Gamble, who pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years in prison (with the condition that he served at least one year behind bars), forced the 11-year-old boy to do strenuous exercises as punishment. When the boy complained, either Black-Gamble or Mason would spank him.

Mason also forced the boy to drink habanero sauce as a punishment, according to the probable cause statement.

Suspended sentence??? I hope that kid stomps his a$& when he’s big enough. Then again, if you abuse a child like this guy did you’ve shown just how weak you are.

This ASININE DECESION - - IS ON PAR FOR THE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OUR POLITICIANS, JUDGES, AND PROSECUTING ATTORNEYS - - HAVE FOR THE VICTIMS AND THE PUBLIC OF MISSOURI - -

Judge David Mouton approved the agreement, sentencing Mason to four years in prison, then suspending the sentence and placing him on supervised probation for five years.

JUDGE DAVID MOUTON AND NATE DALLY - THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY ARE SPINELESS AND WEAK ON CRIME - THEY SHOULD BOTH - BE FIRED / RECALLED - - THIS IS A CLEAR CUT CASE - AND AS A MINIMUM BOTH THESE CRIMINALS SHOULD OF HAD TO SERVE JAIL-TIME IN THEIR SENTENCE AND NOT HAVE THEIR SENTENCES SUSPENDED...

WHY DO THE CITIZENS OF JASPER COUNTY - - PUT UP WITH SO MUCH INCOMPETENCE IN THEIR VOTING AND POLITICAL POSITIONS TO ELECT / APPOINT - THESE TWO IDIOTS MOUTON AND DALLY TO ANY OFFICE?

ISN'T THERE ANYONE IN JASPER COUNTY - THAT IS TOUGH ON CRIMINALS - THAT WANTS TO SERVE AND PROTECT THE PUBLIC OF JASPER COUNTY - AND SEND A MESSAGE - WE ARE NO LONGER GOING TO TOLLERATE CRIMINALS IN OUR SOCIETY...

HOW MANY TIMES - IS EVERYONE GOING TO FORGET POLICE OFFICERS - GETTING KILLED IN JOPLIN - BECAUSE JUDGES AND PROSECUTING ATTORNIES - WHERE SOFT ON CRIME - - AND KEPT GIVING THOSE CRIMINALS - SECOND, THIRD, FOURTH, FIFTH, ETC., ETC., - TIMES TO GET OUT OF JAIL ONLY TO TAKE THESE OFFICERS LIVES...

WAKE UP JASPER AND NEWTON COUNTY - - AND GET YOUR HEADS OUT - - STOP BEING SOFT ON CRIMINALS AND REMEMBER THAT THOSE WHO REPRESENT YOU AND LET THEM OUT OF JAIL - - LIKE MOUTON AND DALLY - ARE A PROBLEM - DO NOT EVER ELECT THEM AGAIN TO OFFICE...

STOP FEELING SORRY FOR THE CRIMINALS AND START FEELING SORRY FOR THE VICTIMS.

This is bs. And yet 10 years ago judges were trying to lock people up for 45 years for a few oz of marijuana
What a joke of a sentence this guy got. There is no justice now days it seems like courts want the criminals out. What are you all going to do when it's people like this left out and the decent people locked up? Ever heard of the Bolshevik Revolution? Open your eyes people.

Am I the only one that sees the difference in how Mouton treats men and women? He is a woman hater.
