Government wants Joplin man held without bond on meth, weapons charges


The U. S. Attorney's office filed a detention motion today in U. S. District Court asking that Robert Marion Nevels, 34, Joplin, be held while awaiting trial on meth and weapons charges.

Nevels was indicted July 25 after he was originally arrested in June. He has been in the Greene County Jail in Springfield since his arrest.

According to the charging information, a Carthage Police Department officer stopped Nevels May 16 and seized 210.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine and a handgun.

This guy should have been in prison when this offense was committed! He's a career criminal who has served bo real time. Start locking these guys up and make them do some serious time and you might change their mindsets.
