The headline for this post is not referring to Joplin R-8 Superintendent C. J. Huff in any way. That myth has been completely shattered over the past few months.
Instead, it refers to a Texas Monthly report on how we are getting away from the idea that there are "miracle" superintendents like Michelle Rhee who can come in and work wonders with a school district with a top-down philosophy, running roughshod over teachers, staff, and everyone else involved in the educational process.
Education takes place when there is a team attitude, not when top-level administrators claim there is a team and use terror to keep all dissension quieted, or when they throw away even the pretense that there is a team concept involved.

Reader rips into famous speaker C. J. Huff's major talking points
Several readers have commented on last night's Turner Report post about Speakers.com's video advertisement for one of their stable of big-money professional speakers- Joplin R-8 Superintendent C. J. Huff.
Part of that post described the talking points from Huff's speeches. An anonymous reader took issue with those talking points as you can see below:
Let's translate those main talking points:
Achievement & Peak Performance- Successfully running off 1/3 of the staff in two years and running the district broke after the biggest bind issue in Joplin history was passed
Change Management--firing or forcing into retirement all but three of the district's building leaders so that your pets can have jobs for which they are not qualified
Communication--sending your puppet around to remind teachers that it would be a shame if their job/program disappeared since jobs are hard to come by, or that they will never work again if they don't resign
Motivation-what staff feels as they are packing to go anywhere else
Overcoming Adversity--what staff feels when they get anywhere else and no longer feel the constant threat of losing their jobs
Education--what Joplin students get less of every year, judging from DESE data
