Wendy Ann Istas, age 58, Joplin, Mo., went home to the Lord on May 30, 2011, at KU Medical Center, as a result of the injuries she sustained in the Joplin tornado.
Wendy was born on April 26, 1953 in Peoria, Ill., the daughter of the late James and Ardith (Pool) Wasson. She has been a resident of Joplin, for the past twenty-one years. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She married Jason Istas on September 1, 2001. Together they co-owned and operated J-W Solutions for the past ten years. Wendy was an excellent accountant and Quick Books Specialist. She was an instructor of Quick Books for Franklin Technical School. Her clients quickly became her friend and greatly relied on her.
She was a director for the Stained Glass Theatre and a member of their board. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Her kind nature and sense of humor will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Jason Istas, Joplin; her children, Tracy Happs and husband Roy, Joplin, Beth Trenary and husband Jason, Rogers, Ark., Brian Gleason and wife leslie, Blue Springs, Mo., and Ashley Istas, Joplin; three brothers Michael Wasson and wife Kathy, Estero, Fla., Stephen Wasson and wife Mary, Woodridge, Ill., and James Wasson and wife Carol, Decatur Indiana; and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday at Forest Park Baptist Church. Pastor Aaron Brown and Pastor Ben Bainbridge will officiate. Burial will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Michael Wasson, Stephen Wasson, James Wasson, Lee Doss, Gregg Murdock, and Dave Garrison. The family visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to a choice of the Ronald McDonald house in memory of her grandchildren or the Stained Glass Theatre.
