Billie Jo Gideon, age 77 of Joplin, Mo. went to be with the Lord early Monday May 23, 2011 at Freeman Hospital from injuries suffered during the devastating tornado that hit Joplin on May 22, 2011.
Billie was born on December 10, 1933 in Goodman, Mo. the daughter of Conley and Bernice (Johnson) Bellamy. She worked for 32 years at the Pentecostal Church of God Headquarters and Messenger Publishing. Billie attended the First Pentecostal Church of God which is now known as Crown of Life Chapel.
She was previously married to Delbert Gideon, he survives. Additional survivors include three sons, Dennis Gideon, Sr. and his wife Blinda of Joplin, Danny Gideon and his wife Candy of Joplin, Scott Gideon and his wife Linda of Joplin, two daughters, Debbie Patterson of Joplin and Betty Benfield and her husband Dale, Sr. of Joplin, ten brothers and sisters, twelve grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. Billie was preceded in death by one sister.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday June 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mason-Woodard Chapel Rev. Paul Dilts will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Tracy Cemetery east of Anderson, Mo. Pallbearers will be Tim Beers, Larry Bellamy, Jr., Kevin Beaver, Randy Beaver, Billy Ray Watkins & Jamie Watkins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
