The Joplin tornado and the devastating twister that struck Tuscaloosa, Ala., on April 27 have sparked a surge of storm shelter orders, according to several southwest Missouri companies that sell them.
"We were busy before the Joplin tornado and now we're really busy," said Linda Davis, co-owner of TwisterSafe in Neosho.
"People think this isn't going to happen to me, not my home, but it can."
