Two more banks to waive check cashing fees for state checks

(From the state treasurer)

State Treasurer Clint Zweifel announced today two additional banks – Arvest Bank and Community Bank and Trust – had each agreed to waive check cashing fees for state issued checks for customers and non-customers at their nine branches in the Joplin area through July 31.

The banks join Commerce Bank, Great Southern Bank, Hometown Bank, Mid-Missouri Bank and UMB Bank who each agreed Monday to waive the fees at their 13 area branches. The announcement impacts about 4,000 state checks a month issued in the Joplin area.

“I appreciate Arvest and Community Bank and Trust joining the effort to help those who have been displaced or are in the area helping with the recovery,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “My office is working with each of these banks to provide resources so they can verify checks immediately. This gets cash to people who need it faster and at no cost to them.”
