Joplin man charged with bribery of a public servant, meth possession

A Joplin man was charged with bribery of a public servant and possession of a controlled substance after allegedly offering a jailer cash to let him go.

Bond was set at $7,500 cash or surety for Justin Lee Spencer (DOB 1989).

According to the probable cause statement, the Joplin Police Department arrested Spencer on outstanding warrants and when Spencer arrived at the jail he had a gray and brown backpack.

Spencer stopped, looked at me and said, "You can have all the money in my pockets if you uncuff me and let me go."

Police found a small baggie of methamphetamine in the backpack, the statement said.
