Joplin man accused of assaulting woman during argument over Lainey Wilson song

The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed a second-degree domestic assault charge today against a Joplin man who allegedly began strangling a woman during an argument over a song by country singer Lainey Wilson.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Jacob Keith Meyer (DOB 1982) with bond set at $500.

From the probable cause statement:

V1 stated in the morning of 01/11/2025 her and Meyer were inside the residence listening to music. V1 stated that a song by musical artist Lainey Wilson started playing and she told Meyer “I don’t like this song” and asked him to change it.

V1 stated Meyer had been drinking a lot this morning and was drunk. V1 stated Meyer began to yell at her and got very upset with her.

V1 stated Meyer kept yelling “you’re just jealous of her.”

V1 stated she didn’t want to keep dealing with his behavior, so she got up and tried to walk to her bedroom. V1 stated Meyer kept following her around the house telling her that she isn’t going to walk away from him.

V1 stated as she was in her bedroom, Meyer walked up behind her and began strangling her. V1 stated she couldn’t get away from Meyer. V1 stated she ended up on her bed while Meyer’s hands were still around her throat and on her face. V1 stated “I felt like I was going to blackout” due to how long Meyer had been strangling her.

V1 showed me two photos that she had taken after the incident. One photo was taken on 01/11/2025 at 1152 hours and showed a large, long red mark on the right side of her neck. Another photo showed red skin openings on her left cheek.

The case was investigated by the Joplin Police Department.

Jacob Keith Meyer, is another Domestic Abuser.

Domestic Abusers - Will Not Change, they will Promise the World - it will never happen again and it was the Alcohol or Drugs that made them do it and even Blame the Victims - but they will continue to Assault You and/or your Children - Get Help - Get Out - Remember You owe it to Yourself and Your Family - Don't be Victim and be used as a Punching Bag.

Be Careful Who - You get involved with and/or bring around your Children.

More ridiculous short sided malarkey from 826. Don't go about making comments you can't back up or have little to no knowledge about. Making stupid comments such as "they will never change", and other duelistic positions that you present only goes to show you know nothing about human nature and the God given ability to change and heal. I guess you're just too perfect to understand that.

OMG, 5:27AM, you have an unrealistic view and ignore or minimize domestic violence abusers and what they do to others and how that impacts the victims. Many victims which may never come forward to file assault charges due to fear, or being judged, not being believed, or victim blaming.

Your comments clearly show more empathy for the domestic abusers than the victims and that you think, "abusers will change, it wasn't their fault', you provoked them", these are just pure asinine thoughts. The realities are criminals not being perfect, but realities of life.

You are the one that knows nothing about human nature and thinking that some of these Godless individuals are going to change because you think they can. That is Total BS! Start feeling sorry for the Victims - they are the ones we should be having empathy and helping them get the lives put back together.

Domestic violence statistics for 2024 include:

Physical abuse
Every minute, about 20 people are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States.

Stalking
Intimate partners stalk more than 1 million women and 371,000 men each year.

Sexual violence
About 1 in 3 women and nearly 1 in 6 men experience some form of sexual violence during their lifetimes.

Psychological aggression
Nearly half of all women and men have experienced psychological aggression by an intimate partner in their lives.

Digital abuse
Victims of digital abuse and harassment are twice as likely to be physically abused, twice as likely to be psychologically abused, and 5 times as likely to be sexually coerced.

Other statistics on domestic violence include:
Women are 5 to 8 times more likely than men to be victimized by an intimate partner.

Women aged 16-24 are most likely to be victimized by an intimate partner.
Immigrant women suffer higher rates of domestic violence than U.S. citizens.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States.

Most IPV (Intimate Partner Violence), incidents are not reported to the police.

Again, short sided ignorant malarkey on the part of 808 to twist my statements into flagrant self serving erroneous posturing to make it sound to the less educated that 808 is some kind of authority on the subject. Just because you googled some random rightwing statistics and placed your uneducated opinion on the subject, doesn't make you all wise and knowledgeable, particularly over a subject you obviously and absolutely know NOTHING about. Please take your seat at the back of the class!

5:27AM - Your Attitude will Never Change - Because You Cannot See the Truth or Understand the Facts - When Presented Right In Front Of You - But at Least - Your Ridiculous Comments - Based on your Lackless Ability to Do any Type of Research and Only Regurgitate - What you Want to Think You Want to See - Is a Reflection on your Inability to Grasp Reality - When it is occurring Day to Day in Society.

Domestic Violence is Real – Victims are Abused Multiple Times and Sometimes it Doesn’t Stop Till they are Dead…

Jacob Keith Meyer - Has 38 (Thirty-Eight) Existing Cases on Case Net - 38...
OMG - He is a Career Criminal - Stealing, Burglary, Drugs, Assault, Domestic Violence, Driving without a License, Driving without Insurance, Speeding - OMG - 38 Different Offenses - He should have been in Jail for a Couple Decades, but because we are Soft On Criminals - He is allowed to Continue his Crimes - Year after Year - - Do You Think – He Changed or Learned from his Past, Is he Remorseful, or do you Think he Continues to Fool You – Over and Over - Again - 38 Different Offenses on Case Net - It Looks like he is going to Find Jesus and Start Changing - Right After his Next Criminal Abuse Trial.

5:27AM and 10:50AM, The victims and the families of domestic violence wonder what rocks you two came out from under? Do you two support domestic violence, do you think it is not real and people are not being violently abused or killed? You two are pathetic and totally uneducated when it comes to serious matters like domestic abuse. One in 4 women and 1 in 10 men experience domestic violence during their lifetime, are those real enough facts for you two.

For your information in the United States there are over 1300 deaths of women each year. More than 55% of murdered women in the United States are killed by their intimate partners. Stop your unemphatic knowledgeless blathering comments and crawl back under your rocks.
