Where did Hunter's $25,000 go?

Term limits prevent Rep. Steve Hunter, R-Joplin, from running for another term, so he shut down his campaign account in October...with no accounting for what happened to the remainder of the funds he had accumulated.
Hunter's July disclosure report showed him with $25,224.85 in his account at the close of the period. The only filing after that one...Hunter's termination of his account...does not list any funds, but mentions that he plans to run for the Carl Junction R-1 Board of Education in April 2009. The treasurer for Hunter's account is his wife, Jasper County Public Administrator Rita Hunter.

The lack of information also keeps us from knowing if Hunter, like most other representatives, returned excess contributions after the July 2007 Missouri Supreme Court ruling that outlawed them.

According to Hunter's July 2007 report, he received a $4,000 contribution from Survey St. Louis on June 12.

Steve and Rita are two of a kind Randy. Do you really wonder where the money went?

I'll be interested if Rita's filings show a personal loan to her campaign account of $25,000.
